Too Much Sitting Linked to Cancer

A new study by the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) found that physical inactivity might increase our risk of breast and colon cancer. The more physical activity you do, the lower your risk of these cancers," researchers suggest. Therefore, these types of cancer can be prevented if people get up and move.American Cancer Society epidemiologist Alpa Patel says moderate exercise, such as aerobic, as well as avoiding prolonged periods of sitting is important to stay healthy.Source:

Study: Walking, Cycling to Work May Lower Diabetes Risk

People who walk to work are 40 percent less likely to develop diabetes and 17 percent less likely to develop high blood pressure than those who drive, a new study by UK researchers suggests. Of the adults who used private transport such as cars, motorbikes and taxis to get to work, 19 per cent were obese, compared to only 13 percent of those who cycled to work and 15 percent of those who walked. This study highlights that building physical activity into the daily routine by walking, cycling or using public transport to get to work is good for personal health," states study co-author Anthony Laverty. Research: Consumption of White Bread Linked to Obesity

According to recent research, people who eat more than two portions of white bread daily have a 40 percent greater risk of obesity. "Essentially it is equivalent to a high consumption of sugar. The problem is similar to what we see with soft drinks, their sugars are rapidly transformed into fat. A sensible recommendation would be to switch to wholegrain bread, especially for people who usually consume a lot of bread," says nutritional expert Miguel Martinez-Gonzalez.The Spanish research team from the University of Navarra, Spain followed the diets of over 9,000 Spanish university graduates calculating their weight gain over time. Is Masturbation Harmful Or Healthy ?

Masturbation is the self-stimulation of the genitals to achieve sexual arousal and pleasure, usually to the point of orgasm (sexual climax). It is commonly done by touching, stroking, or massaging the penis or clitoris until an orgasm is achieved. Some women also use stimulation of the vagina to masturbate or use "sex toys," such as a vibrator.

Why Do People Masturbate?

In addition to feeling good, masturbation is a good way of relieving the sexual tension that can build up over time, especially for people without partners or whose partners are not willing or available for sex. Masturbation also is a safe sexual alternative for people who wish to avoid pregnancy and the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases. It also is necessary when a man must give a semen sample for infertility testing or for sperm donation. When sexual dysfunction is present in an adult, masturbation may be prescribed by a sex therapist to allow a person to experience an orgasm (often in women) or to delay its arrival (often in men).

Is Masturbation Normal?

While it once was regarded as a perversion and a sign of a mental problem, masturbation now is regarded as a normal, healthy sexual activity that is pleasant, fulfilling, acceptable, and safe. It is a good way to experience sexual pleasure and can be done throughout life. Masturbation is only considered a problem when it inhibits sexual activity with a partner, is done in public, or causes significant distress to the person. It may cause distress if it is done compulsively and/or interferes with daily life and activities.

Is Masturbation Harmful?

In general, the medical community considers masturbation to be a natural and harmless expression of sexuality for both men and women. It does not cause any physical injury or harm to the body, and can be performed in moderation throughout a person's lifetime as a part of normal sexual behavior.

Some cultures and religions oppose masturbation or even label it as sinful. This can lead to guilt or shame about the behavior.

Some experts suggest that masturbation can actually improve sexual health and relationships. By exploring your own body through masturbation, you can determine what is erotically pleasing to you and can share this with your partner. Some partners use mutual masturbation to discover techniques for a more satisfying sexual relationship and to add to their mutual intimacy

Q. Is it safe for women to masturbate?

Does it affect the organs? I was bought up christian. I was raped when I was 7 and started touching myself when I was 10. I have no idea if masterbating is cooralated with being raped, because I always use to do it because it felt good, and now, being 26 I think about whoever i'm dating or am attracted to. Anyways, the fact is I feel I'm going to do the act whenever I'm feeling some tension down there because my significant other can't get off with me.

So, my question is, Is it bad for women to do?

When is it too much? I mean I do it once a week or once a month, however when I started to menstrate at 11 I did it almost everyday. Was that too much?

How does it effect my organs?

A. Thank you for your question regarding masturbation, or self stimulation for sexual pleasure or arousal. I recommend that you discuss your concern with your doctor. Rest assured that masturbation is viewed by the medical community as a normal, and healthy, part of your sexual health. Often, people begin masturbating in childhood. This act is a part of normal self exploration as children start to become curious about their own bodies, and can continue into adulthood. Depending on the study, it is estimated that 70-95% of men and 50-89% of women masturbate.

Masturbation is a good way to avoid contracting sexually transmitted diseases or unwanted pregnancy. However, it can also strengthen sexual relationships for those who have partners. By exploring one's own body, you can share with your partner what is pleasurable and thereby increase intimacy and pleasure. Masturbation is in no way harmful to your body or health. There is also no right or wrong answer pertaining to how much masturbation is appropriate. Some people may masturbate everyday, others only occasionally to relieve built up tension or to help them sleep. It is only a problem if you are masturbating so often that it starts to interfere with your work or other daily obligations. If you still have concerns about masturbation, please see your doctor for further guidance.

Masturbation is NOT HARMFUL , it´s VERY GOOD for your health.

Is Albinism Caused By Daylight Sexual Intercourse?

Albinism or Oculocutaneous albinism; or Ocular albinism; or Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome:

Albinism is a defect of melanin production that results in little or no color (pigment) in the skin, hair, and eyes.

Albinism occurs when one of several genetic defects makes the body unable to produce or distribute melanin, a natural substance that gives color to your hair, skin, and iris of the eye. The defects may be passed down through families.

  1. The most severe form of albinism is called oculocutaneous albinism. People with this type of albinism have white or pink hair, skin, and iris color, as well as vision problems.
  2. Another type of albinism, called ocular albinism type 1 (OA1), affects only the eyes. The person's skin and eye colors are usually in the normal range. However, an eye exam will show that there is no coloring in the back of the eye (retina).
  3. Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome (HPS) is a form of albinism caused by a single gene. It can occur with a bleeding disorder, as well as with lung and bowel diseases

Because albinism is inherited, genetic counseling is important. People with a family history of albinism or hypopigmentation should consider genetic counseling.

The goal of treatment is to relieve symptoms. Treatment depends on the severity of the disorder. Treatment involves protecting the skin and eyes from the sun:

  • Reduce sunburn risk by avoiding the sun, using sunscreen, and covering up completely with clothing when exposed to the sun.
  • Sunscreen should have a high sun protection factor (SPF).
  • Sunglasses (UV protected) may relieve light sensitivity.
  • Glasses are often prescribed to correct vision problems and eye position.
  • Eye muscle surgery is sometimes recommended to correct abnormal eye movements (nystagmus).

Albinism is not caused by daylight sexual intercourse or any spiritual curse but  occur due to  several genetic defects.

We all know that a full night of sleep is important to our health. New research shows that it can also be effective in reducing chronic pain.

"If you are already sleeping eight hours a night, you probably don't need more sleep. If you spend six hours in bed each night, spend eight - preferably nine."

There are several treatment options available that don’t require a prescription or even a trip to the doctor. This reference sheet from AARP lists some natural ways of relieving pain.

For many, medication is an essential part of pain management — unfortunately, some people become addicted to their prescriptions. This article discusses the critical signs of prescription drug abuse to watch out for.

Physical pain can have a profound effect on our emotional well-being, especially for those who have experienced it long-term. This article sheds light on how speaking to a professional may have a positive impact on our overall health.

Most people who suffer from physical pain rely on their loved ones for support. For those who provide full-time care for someone in a fragile condition, it’s important to take care of not only the ailing loved one, but themselves as well. Lynn and Seth’s story is an inspirational example of this balance.

For those whose chronic pain stems from a physical disability, there are several ways to make the home a safer, more comfortable place to live. Many of the modifications outlined in this guide can also help seniors suffering from pain.

This article discusses how moderate, low-impact physical activity can help reduce pain, and provides ideas on how to get  started — no rigid workout regimen required!
